This will be a fun, fast ride that will take you from the mayhem of Phnom Penh through Kirirom National Park on some awesome trails down to the coastal regions of Cambodia. Lots of great trails to keep enduro enthusiasts happy. A great off-road tour for those that don’t have much time, but want some good riding. We will be riding between 100 and 200 kilometres a day. ItineraryDay 1: Phnom Penh Airport transfer/getting settled into your hotel/meet fellow riders. We can arrange a tour for you to The Killing Fields & the Tuol Sleng S21 Genocide Museum, so you gain an insight into Cambodia’s turbulent past. Then we’ll meet for an evening meal, and go through the tour itinerary. You will be staying in a comfortable air-con hotel with a pool. Day 2: Phnom Penh to Kompong Chhnang Today will be fairly easy going to begin with.... mainly red dirt roads leading out of Phnom Penh, and then getting sandier as the day goes on. Tackling sandy trails and single track, we should arrive in Kompong Chhnang late afternoon, where you can relax in a nice air-con hotel. Day 3: Kompong Chhnang to Kirirom An easy ride today. Starting off with sandy single track, today will be mainly red dirt roads that will head into the hilly Kirirom National Park region where we either have the option to camp or stay in a hillside resort with a pool. Day 4: Kirirom to Kep Once we leave the national park we will head south following the Elephant Mountains to the coastal town of Kep. If you are up for the challenge there are a couple of hill climbs we can have a go at on the way. Accommodation for the night will be beautiful hillside bungalows overlooking the gulf of Thailand. The resort has a pool and great food. Day 5: Kep to Kampot Today we will make our way to Kampot through the nearby hills and mountains. Exciting single track through the hills, river crossings, hillside temples and mysterious caves should keep us occupied. There is even an ancient Angkorian temple inside one of these caves. These are all interlinked by lots of sandy single track. Once in town we can catch the sunset on the riverfront with a few cold beers, after which we will stay at a beautiful resort on the banks of the river shadowed by Bokor Mountain. Day 6: Kampot to Kompong Som After breakfast, we can check out the old French colonial hill station on the top of Bokor Mountain in Kampot on the way to Sihanoukville. It is a great ride up there with breathtaking views. Then, we have a choice of fun single track or red dirt roads as we make our way further south alongside mangroves and salt planes. There is a section of highway that is unavoidable, but it offers good views. Then as we approach the coastal area we can get back on to fun single track and fast, flowy roads up into the hills, before dropping down to the coast. We will stop off at Kbal Chay waterfall for a rest and a swim if there's time. Then, an easy ride through scenic fishing villages along the coast where the tour ends. You will be staying in an air-con hotel close to the beach. Now you can relax and enjoy the rest of your holiday! |
